چکیده
The majority of the widely used scan statistics are based on distributional assumptions. Contrary to existing methods, with a new perspective in clustering, Mann-Whitney Scan Statistic was introduced detect clusters continuous data indexed by time or space, without any assumptions parameters set up. We propose an extension that can be applied spatiotemporal distance measure. This novel statistic is distribution-free and seems powerful against parametric statistics. results applicable wide variety domains, including epidemiology, socioeconomic analysis climate sciences, irrespective discrete data.

A Business Model to Detect Disease Outbreaks
Introduction: Every year several disease outbreaks, such as influenza-like illnesses (ILI) and other contagious illnesses, impose various costs to public and non-government agencies. Most of these expenses are due to not being ready to handle such disease outbreaks. An appropriate preparation will reduce the expenses. A system that is able to recognize these outbreaks can earn ...
متن کاملStarScan: A Novel Scan Statistic for Irregularly-Shaped Spatial Clusters
Introduction Kulldorff’s spatial scan statistic1 detects significant spatial clusters of disease by maximizing a likelihood ratio statistic over circular spatial regions. The fast localized subset scan2 enables scalable detection of proximity-constrained subsets and increases power to detect irregularly-shaped clusters, However, unconstrained subset scanning within each circular neighborhood2, ...

متن کاملA Bayesian Spatial Scan Statistic
We propose a new Bayesian method for spatial cluster detection, the “Bayesian spatial scan statistic,” and compare this method to the standard (frequentist) scan statistic approach. We demonstrate that the Bayesian statistic has several advantages over the frequentist approach, including increased power to detect clusters and (since randomization testing is unnecessary) much faster runtime. We ...
متن کاملA Non-parametric Approach to Detect Changes in Aerial Images
Detecting changes in aerial images acquired from a scene at different times, possibly with different cameras and at different view points, is a crucial step for many image processing and computer vision applications, such as remote sensing, visual surveillance and civil infrastructure. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to automatically detect changes based on local descriptors and a no...
